Jury for Talent Search Zutphen announced!

Did you sign up for the Shimmy Shake Talent Search 2019 in Zutphen yet? Or are you still thinking about joining the fun on Sunday February 24th? In that case, you may want to know who will be in the jury this year.

Good news! We can tell you the names of the jury member for this fabulous day! Senta Schuijers-Lauterslager, a Talent Search alumni and respected dancer will provide feedback on your skills. And so will Angela Boeijen, dancers, teacher and co-owner of El-Yasmine. Alongside them Gail Pilgrim, director, and programmer for Shimmy Shake.

Aartie Jagmohan will also be joining them to provide feedback on your skills. Aartie may be an unfamiliar face for Shimmy Shakers, but she’s a big name in the international Indian Dance community, being asked all over the world as a choreographer and dance teacher.

Fusion & Tribal Belly Dance

Welcome to the world of Fusion, Tribal and Bellydance, a colorful exciting dance community where the very essence of women is celebrated!

Belly dance, or Oriental Dance as its actually called, has been a universal language uniting women in the East for centuries. More recently this dance form has found an enthusiastic in the West.

Tribal and Fusion Bellydance is a style that has been created using the basic steps of Oriental dance, a dance that developed from the shapes and possibilities of a woman’s body, then mixing it with Western dance styles as modern, jazz ballet, hip hop and more. Originally Shimmy Shake has been a platform for the cross-over of Oriental dance with Western styles to give support to a new dance genre. From this year 2024 onwards, we are going to return to the roots and present Oriental dance alongside Fusion.

Tribal, Fusion and Belly dance appeal to all shapes and sizes, ages and types of women and these days are practiced all around the planet. Dancers use this universal language to communicate with each other and with other dancers in one big strong and supportive community that embraces difference. To bring joy through movement, to touch people’s hearts and to ignite the fire of creativity in those who dance it.
