Newsletter Shimmy Shake December 2016
Shimmy Shake Festival 2016 was a great success!
The third Shimmy Shake Festival was as happy, warm and friendly an experience as ever! Once again the Gala show was an abundance of colour and diversity with a well-filled theater full of enthusiastic public and our other 2 shows on Sunday were delightful. With the panel discussion by Inge van Schooneveld we discussed new feminism and its connection to the rise of interest in women for sensual forms of dancing.
The workshops went very well with so much to learn ranging from a 4 hour master class with Kami Liddle, learning theater lighting by Piet Rogie, claiming the stage with Nadîja Broekhart, to various dance techniques from an ATS special with Hilde Cannoodt, through Jazzy Tribal to Burlesque. Also on offer were workshops in costuming, jewelry and theatrical make-up by Gonda Vrieling and Vesna Zorman.
With the great food by Rotterdam Kookt and the cheery market our public was very well entertained and the dancers greatly inspired.
A BIG THANKYOU TO ALL THE DANCERS, TEACHERS AND VOLUNTEERS WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE!
